Marottichal waterfalls is one of the hidden treasure of Thrissur District of Kerala. Marottichal waterfalls is situated inside a forest region in Puthoor panchayath, about 20 km from Thrissur and 76 km from Eranakulam. The waterfalls at Marotichal which is situated inside the forest, have so far stayed as a secret and were not exposed.

Keep in mind that both these waterfalls in Marottichal, Thrissur are inside a forest area. Wild animals are usually found in these places in search of food and water.

Olakkayam Waterfalls

Olakkayam Waterfalls is at 5-10min walking distance from the main road. There is a walkway by the side of the canal which leads to the Olakkayam waterfalls. Olakkayam is a refreshing place where you can step into the water without a second thought. Its also observed that wild elephants frequently roam here for water and food.

Marottichal Ilanjippara Waterfalls

Marottichal Ilanjippara Waterfalls or simply Ilanjippara Waterfalls is the largest & the scenic of both the waterfalls. Ilanjippara Waterfalls is about 4km from Olakkayam Waterfalls. The stream flowing down the rocks inside the forest offers a mesmerizing feeling for nature loving people. We need to trek through the forest around 4kmin order to reach the waterfalls. The trek continues through the walkway of wild elephants so visitors need toed be careful when passing through this area as you may not notice them all time. And it's always advisable to go in groups as multiple pathways exist and some will confuse you for sure.

The best time to visit Ilanjippara Waterfall is between September and February right after the heavy monsoon rains.
