Last seen in the year 2006, Neelakurinji plant blooming can be best sighted from Kovilur, Kadavari, Rajamala, and Eravikulam National Park. Eravikulam is also the home to the Nilgiri Tahr, hosting a majority of the remaining population of this endangered species.

Neelakurinj flower is set to bloom next from August end to November this Year though there were initial reports stating that it may bloom next from the month of June. The visiting time is set from 07:00 AM in the morning to 04:00 PM in the evening. Approximately 75% of the tickets will be sold online and rest of the 25% will be available from the counter available at various places in Munnar. A visit to Neelakurinji flower blooming locations is limited to about 3500 persons per day and the entry dates are not transferable.  The maximum allotted time for the visit is 2hrs.

Guidelines for Munnar Neelakurinji Visit 2018

    1. Neelakurinji flowering site is STRICTLY NO PLASTIC ZONE.
    2. Do not pluck the flowers or plant. They are an endangered endemic species and an integral part of the ecosystem. Any harm to even a single plant will impact the entire region at large.
    3. The Kurinji plants are fire resistant and act as a natural protector to the grasslands from forest fires and also protects from soil erosion so please refrain from harming the plant.
    4. Neekakurinji will grow only above an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level and so be plucking them in hopes of growing them at home will be in vain.
