Pichola Lake is one of the most beautiful and Oldest Lake of Udaipur that is known for its picturesque background. It was built by Pichhu Banjara in the year 1362, the ruling period of Maharana Lakha.

The lake looks even more beautiful with the scenic surroundings that attract a large number of people towards it. The dimensions include: 3 miles in length, 2 miles in width and has a depth of 30 feet. You can see the glimpse of Eklinggarh Fort from the known Machhala Magra which is located at the southern part of this lake.

Jag Mandir:

Situated at the bank of Lake Pichola, this palace is a joint contribution of 3 Rajput rulers constructed in the 17th century. The construction was underdone by Maharana Amar Singh in 1551, then constructed further in the year (1620–1628) by Maharana Karan Singh and finally accomplished by Maharana Jagat Singh I (1628–1652). It is named “Jagat Mandir”, also known as “Lake Garden Palace” in honor of Maharana Jagat Singh. You can reach Jag Mandir with the help of jetty from Bansi Ghat. The royal palace includes the Entry Pavilion, an interesting mix of residential suites, internal courts, the flower garden, reception hall, Bara Patharon Ka Mahal and Darikhana.

City Palace of Udaipur:

The construction of the city place Udaipur was started in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh and was completed in the 18th century by his successors. It shows a magnificent showcase of European, Medieval, and Chinese Architecture with the entities such as various towers, domes, and arches, which add to the flavor of the heritage site. It consists of 11 wonderful palaces with the marvelous construction of courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and hanging gardens. It is also well known for its miniature paintings portraying royal processions including Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace) and Sheesh Mahal (Palace of mirrors) which is known for its breathtaking mirror work.

Fateh Sagar lake is situated on the northwest of the main Udaipur city and is considered as the pride of Udaipur. It was constructed under the reign of Maharana in 1960 and is one of the places where travelers can enjoy the scenic beauty of Udaipur. It is divided into three distinct islands and is sprawled over an area of one square kilometer.

The first island and the biggest of all are called the Nehru Park. It is a lovely open space with a boat-shaped restaurant. The second island has a public park. The third island consists of Udaipur Solar Observatory, the best solar observing site in all of Asia.

Jaisamand Lake:

Jaisamand Lake is the Second largest artificial lake in Asia built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1685. It is also known as Dhebar. It has a circumference of 30 miles, stretches to the length of 14 km and width of 9 km covering an area of 36 sq. km in total. This lake comprises seven islands in total. The biggest island out of all is known as ‘Babaka Bhagra’ and the other one is known as ‘Piari’. It is a wonderful place to relax and you can even enjoy a boat ride in the calm waters of Jaisamand Lake too.

Monsoon Palace, formerly known as the Sajjan Garh Palace, was named after Maharana Sajjan Singh of Udaipur. It was originally built to overlook Maharana Sajjan Singh’s hometown, Chittorgarh. Monsoon Palace is surrounded by Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary so you can enjoy a safari ride into the sanctuary populated by several exotic creatures and birds.

The palace was built with such an architectural view that it could record the arrival of monsoons by keeping track of the monsoon clouds.

Gulab Bagh and Zoo is one of the largest gardens in Udaipur spread over an area of 100 acres. It is a must visit place for all the fauna lovers as it has many trees such as boar, mulberry, Rayan, pomegranate, bananas, sapota. Also, it has a zoo inside it that consists of animals such as Black Leopards, Rhinos, Ostriches, Zebras, hoolock gibbons, etc.

It is famous for its attractive and lush green lawns, marble art and fountains. The garden was made to offer pleasurable moments for queens, away from the political intrigues of the court. The queen with her 48 other maids and female friends used to come here to relax and spend their time in leisure.

Shilpgram, Udaipur:

Spread over an area of 70 acres of land surrounded by the Aravalli Mountains, this beautiful place is situated 3 km west of the city of Udaipur, India. It is known for its art and craft complex. They are known for their weaving, embroidery, dab and mirror work, woodwork and rogar work.

Also, there is a traditional ‘haat’ from where visitors could buy traditional crafts from the Zone. There is also a seating capacity of approximately 8000. Furthermore, Shilpgram Festival is organized every year from 21st December to 31st December. In this festival, you can learn craft skills through various workshops.

Haldighati is an important historical site which is situated at a distance of 40kms from Udaipur and is popularly known as the battlefield of Rana Pratap Singh of Mewar and Raja Man Singh of Amber. The word Haldighati (in Hindi, turmeric is called as ‘Haldi’ and valley is known as’ Ghati’)

It has been derived from the yellow colored soil of the place that gives a sense of turmeric. As we know Chetak was the heroic mount of Rana Pratap. He took his last breath here only.

In the museum, you can see the theater objects, the remarkable collection of tribal folk musical instruments, puppets, masks, dolls, folk deities, typical rural-dresses, and ornaments.

Also, you can watch a puppet show that occurs at regular intervals there in the puppet hall. You can reach Bharatiya Lok Kala Museum from the city by taking Local Buses, Tongas, Auto- Rickshaws and Taxis.

Nehru Garden was built in the year 14th November 1967 in the memory of India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. This garden overlooks Moti Magri, Rani Road, Fateh Sagar Lake, thus, is an ideal location for the photography maniacs.

Sajjangarh wildlife sanctuary was established in 1987 which covers an area of 5.19 sq.Km. It is a home for reptiles, tigers, nilgai, sambhar, wild boars, hyenas, panthers, and jackals and is popularly known for bird watching. It has an artificial lake named Jiyan Sagar, which is widely known as “Bari Lake” or “Tiger Lake”. This place is an ideal place to experience the effect of micro-climate along with the beautiful natural beauty of Aravalli hills and the fauna, flora.
