The Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) is a charitable organisation, providing budget hostel accommodation in India. Being a member of the Hostelling International(HI) federation, YHAI is primarily an accommodation provider and supports this with the provision of food and drink, educational packages to support school groups using hostels since 1970’s.

As a part of increasing tourism and youth travelers,  YHAI organizes several budget Himalayan treks via the National Office at Delhi and through its state offices. The budget-friendly trekking events are as below:

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP: The base camp is at 15 Miles, near the end of Span Resort. Get down at Ballu’s Cafe – Baba Deluxe Dhaba on the Delhi- Kullu Manali National Highway. Regular bus services are available from Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab to Kullu Manali. Nearest railheads are Ambala and Chandigarh. Nearest Airport is Bhuntar.

SCHEDULE OF PROGRAMME*:

  • Day 01: Reporting at Gwaldam Base Camp(6360feet). Full day Reporting & Rest Day. Trekkers will be accommodated in tent & will be issued the equipment.
  • Day 02: Acclimatization and Orientation. Trekker will move around the base camp to gain height for proper acclimatization followed by the opening address in which trekker will be briefed about YHAI. High altitude sickness, do’s and don’ts in mountains etc.
  • Day 03: Rock climbing and rappelling. Trekkers will enjoy the rock climbing and rappel by the guidance of our professional Instructors with different useful techniques.
  • Day 04: Trek to Didna village (9003feet) Via Kulling. On this day trekkers will be lifted from Base camp to Kulling by bus after traveling the distance of 55 kilometers, will be dropped at Kulling Village. Kulling is the point where trekkers will have to start trekking for a maximum of 4 hours to reach the Didna Camp.
  • Day 05: Trek to Bedini Bugyal(11004feet). Early Morning after breakfast trekkers will be provided packed lunch for the trek. This trek will take 07 to 08 hours to reach Bedini Bugyal via Ali Bugyal; Ali Bugyal is a lush green meadow resting at the top of the mountain, like a luxury penthouse of a skyscraper. Bedini Bugyal is a very fascinating plain meadow with greenery above the tree line. Bedini Bugyal is also the main source of the River Neel Ganga.
  • Day 06: Trek to Bhagua Basa(14354feet) via Patar Nachuni & Kalu Vinayak. On this day early morning after breakfast followed by the distribution of packed lunch, trekkers will have to trek for a maximum of 6 hours to reach Bhagua Basa. This is the highest campsite of this expedition, which is located at an altitude of 14354 feet & offers the fascinating scenario of many mountain peaks like Mount Chou khamba, Mount Neel Kanth, Mount Mrigho Dhani, Mount Bandar punch etc. Here you can see the Legendary Brahma Kamal & Phen Kamal flower.
  • Day 07: Trek to Roopkund (15893feet) & back to Patar Nachuni camp. (13002feet). This is the day when trekkers will move from Bhagua Basa to Roopkund. Early morning at 5 a.m. trek starts. After reaching this destination trekkers will be given the limited time for photography, Prayers etc. And will descent to Patar Nachuni for night stay. It will take a maximum of 4 hours to summit and 6 hours to descend to Patar Nachuni.
  • Day 08: Trek to Minfar Camp (10033feet). After the successful summit, the descending route will be diverted so that extra fascinating views can be covered during the trek. On this day trekkers will descend to the Minfar Camp which will take around 6 hours. On the way to Minfar Camp, one can enjoy the full view of the entire trek route.
  • Day 09: Descend to Wan Village & transfer by Bus to Basecamp. This is the final trekking day of this trekking expedition when trekkers will have to descend around 08 kilometers which can take maximum 05 hours to reach Wan Village where trekkers will be lifted by bus, after traveling 62 kilometers trekkers will be dropped at Gwaldam Base Camp. During this trek, trekkers can see many beautiful and famous birds like Monal (State bird of U.K.) etc.
  • Day10: Check out after breakfast.
